Nobody hires a VA on a whim. Business owners are looking for someone who can do the job, yes, but they are also looking to be persuaded. They usually know they need help. They rarely know exactly what that help should look like. Your job is to make the decision easy: show them you understand the problem, and show them you are the right person to fix it.
Here is how you do that.
If you want to be attractive to potential clients, describe your business properly. Be accurate about what you do, who you help, and how you help them. No vague waffle.
Say the same thing, the same way, everywhere. Your website, your social media, your emails, your conversations: keep the message consistent. You will repeat it hundreds of times, so get it right once and stick to it.
Talk benefits, not features. A feature is “I manage your inbox.” A benefit is “you stop losing three hours a day to email.” Clients deciding whether to hire a VA need to see what you bring to the table, not a list of tasks.
When you describe your business, do not lead with what you do. Lead with why it matters. Clients want solutions that are attractive, emotive and benefit driven, not a job description. You may have also heard this as “sell the sizzle and not the sausage!”
They want reassurance that you can do the job and take it off their plate without adding hassle. They want their time back and their to-do list shorter. At the bottom of it, they want to grow their business.
So build offers that solve that problem and make them irresistible. If you want a steer on this, read Are you selling what clients want to buy?.
This is what it comes down to. Clients hiring a VA want confirmation that you understand what they need and can deliver it.
Show them with consistent, benefit-led descriptions. Make your solutions valuable, not just available. If you want practical ways to build in more value, have a read of Easy ways to add value to your clients.
Show clients how you get them where they want to go. Prove you understand their needs. Then hiring you becomes the obvious choice, not a gamble.
Hiring a VA is not a decision anyone takes lightly. Take the time to understand your clients properly, and you will be able to show them why you are the right choice. Deliver on that, and you confirm they made the right decision.
