The type of blogs that will drive traffic to your website

18th September 2025

It can be a real challenge to find the time to create great content for your blog when you’re busy running a virtual assistant (VA) business. After all, you’re focused on providing excellent service to your clients. But having a blog is one of the best ways to attract more visitors to your website and show off your expertise.

So, how can you do both? The key is to plan ahead and get organized. Let’s look at some of the best types of blog posts you can write to bring in new clients and grow your business.

blog posts that drive traffic

List Posts: Top Tips, Tools, and Resources

People love lists because they’re easy to read and digest. You can create a few different kinds of list posts to get started:

  • “Top 10” Lists: Think about the tools or resources you couldn’t live without in your business. Create a list of your top 10 (or more!) and write a short explanation of why you chose each one. This shows your readers what you value and helps them understand your professional approach.

  • “Tips and Tricks” Lists: Share your knowledge by creating a list of tips. For example, you could write “5 Social Media Tips for Small Businesses” or “7 Reasons to Hire a Virtual Assistant.” These posts offer quick, actionable advice that your readers can put into practice right away.

Adding bullet points and photos to your list posts makes them even easier to scan and read. By sharing your expertise in this way, you establish yourself as a leader in your field and build trust with potential clients.

Step-by-Step Guides

Do you have a process for a task that you’re an expert at? Write a step-by-step guide! This type of post is a fantastic way to showcase exactly what you do and how you can help your clients.

For instance, you could write a guide on “How to Set Up a New Business Facebook Page” or “A Simple Guide to Organizing Your Client Files.” By walking readers through your process, you demonstrate your skills and show how your services can solve their specific problems. It’s a great way to prove your value before they even get in touch.

Behind-the-Scenes Insights

Your clients want to know who they’re working with. Sharing a glimpse behind the curtain of your business can help them feel more connected to you.

Consider writing a post about your daily routine, your creative process for a specific task, or a recent business challenge you overcame. This type of content is personal and gives people a deeper understanding of your work ethic and personality. It helps to build rapport and shows that you’re not just another service provider—you’re a real person who genuinely cares about their work.

Experiment with these different types of posts to see what resonates most with your audience. The goal is to consistently create valuable content that helps and engages your readers. Happy writing!

What kind of post will you try first for your blog?  Once you have written that blog post – learn how to share it widely with these ideas.
