Top Tips for Entering Awards

14th October 2024

UK VA Awards

Here are 10 top tips for entering the UKVA Awards (and any other business awards).

  1. Research the awards thoroughly:  Take your time to research the categories you are interested in entering. Look at past winners, category criteria, who are the judges and the judging process. This information will help you understand what the judges are looking for and what you need to do to stand out.
  2. Understand the criteria: Read the criteria carefully and make sure you understand what the judges are looking for. This will help you tailor your entry to meet their expectations.
  3. Highlight your unique selling points: Identify what sets you apart from other Virtual Assistants and highlight those in your entry. This could be your experience, skills, or the way you work with your clients.
  4. Use data to support your entry: Where possible, use data to support your claims. This could be in the form of testimonials, case studies, or statistics that demonstrate your impact.
  5. Keep it concise: Stick to the word limit and keep your entry concise and focused. Make sure every word counts and that you are communicating your message clearly.
  6. Be authentic: Be authentic in your entry and don’t be afraid to show your personality. Judges want to see the real you, so don’t be afraid to let your personality shine through.
  7. Show your passion: Show your passion for your work and for the Virtual Assistant industry. This will help the judges understand why you are so passionate about what you do and what drives you to succeed.
  8. Use examples: Use real-life examples to demonstrate your skills and expertise. This could be a specific project you worked on or a challenge you overcame.
  9. Get feedback: Before submitting your entry, get feedback from colleagues, clients, or mentors. This will help you identify areas for improvement and make your entry even stronger.
  10. Submit on time: Finally, make sure you submit your entry on time. Don’t leave it until the last minute and make sure you have everything you need to complete your entry before the deadline.

Bonus Tip:  Never lie or exagerate the truth.
