Spring clean your business: 15 ways to clear the decks

Spring is the perfect time to clear the decks. There is something motivating about the days getting lighter and seeing growth and potential all around us. If you are getting the urge to have a good clear out, here are fifteen areas you can focus on to help increase your productivity and creativity.

1. Business systems and processes

We tend to set up our systems and then forget about them. They need an overhaul. Review your sales funnels and autoresponder sequences to see where they can be tidied up or streamlined.

2. Email list

Your mailing list is a vital business asset. Many programs are restricted by subscriber numbers, so it pays to be ruthless. Delete bouncing addresses. Place inactive contacts on a re-engagement sequence. Update your opt in boxes and delete old sequences.

3. Email inbox

Unsubscribe from lists you no longer read. Clear out your inbox and tidy the various email folders you have created.

4. Website health and links

Give your website a thorough health check. Use a tool to find and fix broken links that frustrate users and hurt your SEO. Ensure all your external links still point to relevant, active sites.

5. Website content and images

Review your analytics and boost the pages and posts with the most interaction. Update your images, sales pages, and testimonials. Refresh your About page and delete redundant sales pages for old programs.

6. Plugins and integrations

Digital bloat slows your site down. Review your website plugins and third party integrations. Delete anything you are not using and ensure the remaining ones are fully updated and secure.

7. Copyright and legalities

Check the footer of your website. Does the copyright year say 2026? If not, update it. Ensure your privacy policy and terms of business are current and compliant with UK regulations.

8. Marketing and social media strategies

Review your strategies. Identify where your ideal clients are hanging out now and how you will interact with them. Clarify what you post and when, and decide which programs you are going to promote.

9. Social media profiles

Give your accounts a clear out. Leave groups you do not interact with. Tidy your profiles so they have a consistent image. Update your header images and check that your bio information is current.

10. Computer files

Computers get bogged down with old files and unused downloads. Delete duplicate files and old backups. Tidy your photograph files and remove anything that is just taking up digital space.

11. Office space

Physical junk accumulates quickly. Go through drawers and cupboards. Throw away old stationery and used notebooks. Archive old files. Review your subscriptions and memberships and cancel those you no longer use.

12. Business plan

Update your business plan quarterly to stay focused. Look at where you are headed, what you want, and when you want to achieve it.

13. Client list

We all have clients that drain our time and energy. Now is the time to implement an exit strategy to move them on and make room for your ideal clients.

14. Mindset

Spend time clearing out the thoughts, beliefs, and behaviours that are holding you back. If you need help with this process, invest in a coach or mentor to help you build an action plan.

15. Your environment

Finally, look at your everyday surroundings. Declutter your clothes, shoes, and even your bathroom cabinet. Clearing your physical space clears your energy.

A thorough spring clean improves your motivation and mood. It creates the space needed for productivity and creativity to thrive. Create a plan now to systematically go through these areas of your life and business.
