Are you a new VA who’s feeling overwhelmed with the basics?

overwhelmed with the basics of being a va

Starting your own Virtual Assistant business does not require a massive inventory of equipment. This low barrier to entry is exactly why so many people are drawn to the industry. However, once your initial training is complete, the reality of launching and growing a sustainable business can feel overwhelming.

If you are at this stage, do not panic. Rushing into a launch before you are prepared is a mistake that will cost you later. Follow these three direct steps to get your business off the ground properly.

Tip 1: Set a firm launch date

Giving yourself the time to launch correctly is vital. You must ensure your business structure is sound, your insurances are active, and your marketing and social media plans are ready. You need a compelling message that speaks to your ideal client.

A three month launch period is a realistic starting point if you have expert support, such as our VA Momentum Course, the VA Membership, or a dedicated VA business coach. If you choose to go it alone, expect the process to take significantly longer. A firm date prevents procrastination and keeps you accountable, especially if you have already started promoting launch offers.

Tip 2: Secure professional support

Basic training is just the beginning. Once you start, you will have specific questions about pricing, client acquisition, and operations. Overwhelmed and confused is a choice, not a requirement.

Instead of guessing, seek advice from those who have been there. Focus on building relationships first rather than just hunting for sales. Having a mentor to answer your questions and guide your next steps is invaluable for your confidence and your bottom line.

Tip 3: Build your network immediately

Networking is not just about finding clients. It is about connecting with other VAs for future collaboration. Working alone can be isolating, and a strong network provides more than just company.

Online support networks allow you to share best practices, trade leads for clients who may not be a fit for you, and arrange holiday or sickness cover. When looking for support or resources, ensure you choose those with a proven track record in the UK VA industry. Look at established guides and ask for recommendations from peers who are already successful.

Are you a new VA feeling overwhelmed by the basics? You do not need to struggle. Our VA Momentum Course is designed to guide you through the entire process of setting up, launching, and running a successful VA business.  But if you have done a course with another VA trainer and still struggling – I am sorry but please do come and look at the VA Membership – it could fill in the gaps for you.
