How to find your place in an entrepreneur world

7th April 2026

how to find your place in an entrepreneur world

Many people dream of starting their own business, but the reality of taking action can be a step too far for some. If you have already started your Virtual Assistant business or are ready to take the plunge into self employment, congratulations. You have done the hard part.

Now comes the reality check. You are not just a VA. First and foremost, you are a business owner. You must step up and take your place in the professional world. You can only do that if you stop thinking of yourself as just a VA.

The services and business support packages you offer are simply the products you sell. You provide a service, but your identity is that of a businesswoman and an entrepreneur. To grow, to increase your income, and to help more people, you must change your mindset. You must commit to making your business a success, which requires a specific approach.

1. Show up

Make the decision to treat your work as a proper business. This means setting regular hours and showing up every single day, regardless of how many clients you have or how new your business is. If you treat it like a hobby, it will pay like a hobby.

2. Invest in yourself and your business

Running a business takes time and money. While you must commit your time, you also need to invest financially to grow. This includes essential tools, software, and professional training. Whether you are starting out or looking to scale, resources like the VA Momentum Course are vital for your development.

3. Get focused

Focus on providing genuine value to your clients. Be the best you can be. Identify exactly who you want to work with and focus on building relationships with that specific niche. Do not try to be everything to everyone.

4. Get supported

No one is an island, especially in business. You might think you can go it alone, but you will reach your goals faster with the right help. Whether this involves online forums, outsourcing to associates, or working with a mentor, ensure you have a support system in place.

5. Put yourself out there

Stop hiding behind your laptop. You are your own biggest selling point. Get out there, network on and offline, and mix with other VAs and potential clients. People buy from people, so get known in your industry.
