There is a lot of noise in the business world about having the right mindset. The moment you mention you are starting out or running your own show, people start throwing labels at you: entrepreneur, solopreneur, mumpreneur, or hobbyist.
Here is the truth: it does not matter which sounding word you use. Some will appeal to you and others will grate. Pick the one that fits and then get on with the actual work of running your business. What truly matters is having the mindset of a business owner.
If you want to be successful, you must think like a professional. Successful business owners share specific traits that keep their heads in the game and their eyes on the prize. Whether you are just starting or looking to scale through the VA Momentum Course, these are the traits you need to cultivate.
When it comes to spotting an opening, successful business owners are at the forefront. They are resourceful, they love a challenge, and they welcome change. They do not get stuck using only one method of advertising or relying on a single revenue stream. They actively seek out new ways of promoting their services and better ways of operating.
Growth and success are tied directly to innovation. You cannot stand still. This means being willing to tweak, amend, and adapt everything from your sales copy to your service packages. If something is not working, change it.
A real business owner understands that profit follows value. To have a successful business, you must focus on creating content and services that genuinely help and enrich the lives of your clients. If you are not providing a solution to a problem, you do not have a business.
Good entrepreneurs acknowledge their fears and worries, but they do not let them stall progress. They feel the fear and push on anyway. If they face a setback, they pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and get right back out there. There is no room for wallowing.
Successful people surround themselves with positive, inspirational, and forward thinking individuals. They listen, learn, and adapt what they glean from those further ahead than them. This is why finding a mentor or a role model is vital. You must be ruthless about who is in your close network to ensure they are encouraging your growth, not stifling it.
VAs who succeed do so because they keep their focus on the end result, regardless of what sceptics might say. They do not just have a dream; they have a solid action plan to make that result happen. They break the big goals down into manageable, daily chunks.
Which of these traits resonated most with you? Are you focused on the plan, or are you still letting fear dictate your schedule? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
